0320 Tawes Hall

Please join Film Studies at UMD for a conversation with Peter Garofalo, a UMD Film Studies Alum, on Tuesday, February 23rd at 5:00pm in 0320 Tawes Hall. There will also be a screening of multiple episodes of Peter’s self-produced show, “A Man Walks Into A Bar.” This event is free and open to the public.

Peter is a UMD alum and NYC based video director/camera operator. Born and raised in Washington DC, Peter discovered his passion for film while attending University of Maryland. With no film major offered at the time, Peter created his own through the Individual Studies Department and received his degree in Film Studies in 2013. While an undergrad, Peter also was president of the Maryland Filmmakers Club and directed numerous shorts and one feature film. After graduating, Peter moved to New York City and pursued his career in Camera and Production Department on films such as Mount Lawrence, King Jack, and Learning to Drive, as well as TV shows such as Lilyhammer, and Peter Pan Live. Peter continues to shoot video in the film, TV, and commercial markets. His most recent project is a continuation of his thesis project, A Man Walks Into A Bar, a 12 episode web-series parodying American filmmakers from throughout the 20th century.
